But today, two Americans will take that notion to the extreme when they arrive in Ossett after flying thousands of miles across the Atlantic.

World-famous food challenge competitors ‘Magic’ Mitch Dombrowski and Randy Santel are aiming to eat a 32oz fish, a mountain of chips and sides in under 10 minutes.

They will take on the Kasey’s Whale challenge at Kasey’s Fish N Chip Shop, on Bank Street, Ossett, from noon.

Owner John Casey, 36, said: “I’m very excited and I’m really pleased they’ve picked us.

“I always thought the challenge was a bit silly but all around the world people have heard about us now.

“We’ve been featured on the Lad Bible website and people have phone from all over asking to get involved.”

Last November, Adam Moran - also known as Beard Meats Food, from Leeds, completed the challenge in 11 minutes and 50 seconds.

Dozens of brave foodies have taken on the challenge at the shop, but only a handful have ever managed to complete the meal.

The challenge includes a specially-caught 32oz cod, one large portion of chips, peas, beans, curry sauce, gravy and a large breadcake.

Mr Casey added: “Adam has been at the top of the leader board for the last few months now and I’m hoping Randy and Mitch will be able to finish it.

“I have seen their videos on YouTube and they are really good.”

The challenge in Ossett was organised by YouTuber Mr Santel as part of a European tour, where he is competing at more than 20 different venues until August.

He has received millions of views on a number of his videos and has 215,000 YouTube subscribers.
