Clough run riot in fine cup triumph

HOWDEN Clough hit top form as they thrashed Ring of Bells 13-2 to cruise into the second round of the Sonder Heating Cup last Saturday.

Clough have suffered some heavy defeats in the league but saved their best for the cup as they raced into a 6-1 half-time lead.

Darron Byron, Luke Adams and Jamie Clarke hit hat-tricks for Clough, who also had Chris Peel (two), Nathan Bagshaw and Joe Nadors on target.

Park appeared to be heading out of the cup when they trailed Marsh 2-1 after 90 minutes but they hit an injury time equaliser and went on to seal a 3-2 victory after extra time.

Danny Holdsworth and Josh Wood scored as Marsh took control but their hopes were dashed as Danny Coucill, Chris Fox and Matthew Ryan replied to see Park snatch a dramatic win.

Savile Town Athletic were edged out 3-2 by ALC.

Athletic trailed 1-0 at half-time but fought back to level at 2-2 before ALC snatched victory.

Moshia Atha and Soyab Bham struck for Savile Town but ALC won thanks to a John Taylor brace and one from Brian Mitchell.

Oakwell Reserves surrendered a two-goal lead as they bowed out 3-2 to Inter Batley.

Ricky Lister and Jamie Sands looked to have put Oakwell in control as they led 2-0 after 65 minutes but Inter pulled a penalty back and went on to seal victory thanks to A Navsarka and Razman Mazher (two).

Ravensthorpe Rangers held a 2-1 interval lead in their tie with Wellington but in a dramatic second half it was the visitors who battled back to win 6-3.

Fessy (two) and Zahid struck for Rangers but Jonathan Ledgard led Wellington’s fightback with a hat-trick, while Lee Speight, David Barlow and MoM Thomas Yarnold also struck for the winners.

TVR United cruised into the second round with a 7-1 victory over Norfolk.

TVR held a 5-0 lead at half-time and although Z Khan scored a consolation goal, Mohammed Farooq (hat-trick), Mohammed Ismaeel (two) and Ashiq Iqbal (two) struck to see United progress.

Graham Wood and Shaun Spencer hit two goals each, while Chris Goodwin and Aron Kennedy were also on target as Thornhill United defeated FC Bosnia 6-3.

Oakwell recorded a 3-0 victory over Quarry in the Spen Valley League Premier Division thanks to a brace from Johnny Beverley and one from Ben McCann.

Youth 2000 led George Healey 3-0 at half-time before the visitors produced a storming fightback.

George scored four quick goals through Simon Moore (two), Andy Dawn and Chris Bowman before they were eventually edged out 5-4 as Youth claimed all three points thanks to M Adams (two), I Chibda, M Rajah and S Pandor.

BD3 United (Syeed Hussain) fought out a 1-1 draw with Fairbank (Faifel Shabbir) in an excellent game which was a credit to both sides.

Rob Rowntree (two), Phil Holmes (two), Carl Goodchild and Phil Cogan were on the scoresheet as West Bradford Spartans overcame Stithy 6-4.
