Cycle speedway debut

AFTER just a few track training sessions, 16-year-old Pavell Idziorek made his debut for Heckmondwike in the opening cycle speedway fixture of the season as they welcomed Sheffield to Firth Park.

Darren Kent made the best possible start to the campaign by scoring a maximum 20 points and was well supported by the young Polish rider, Idziorek, along with stalwarts Richard Westcott and Andy Morris.

With the appearance of guest riders, Heckmondwike had 22 points taken off their tally, which resulted in them suffering a 46-81 defeat.

Racing takes place at Firth Park again this Sunday, starting at 12.30pm with events for under-13s and under-16s.

Heckmondwike then take on Hull, Stockport and Bury in the opening Fours League fixture at 2pm and the day concludes with under-19s racing starting at 3pm.
