Dewsbury Moor Under-16s scoop awards

Dewsbury Moor Under-16s held their annual presentation night last Saturday in a fitting way to end a glorious year which saw them become Yorkshire Junior League Division One Champions.

Player of the year was James Rhodes, players’ player Declan Sheehan and clubman Patrick Diskin.

Most improved player was shared by Connor Redgwick and Caden Wilkinson, top try scorer was Declan Sheehan, top tackler went to Jacob Crosswell and top trainer was Connor Gavaghan.

Special thanks went to coaches Paul Hardy, Terry Diskin and Scott Sheard, who have seen the team develop into a quality side.

The majority of the squad will now move up to Under-18s, while five of them are joining Super League clubs after signing professional contracts.

Aiden Ineson, Patrick Diskin, Ben Kershaw and Declan Sheehan have signed for Castleford Tigers, with Connor Redgwick joining Huddersfield Giants.

Several of the successful Moor squad were selected for the Yorkshire Under-17s who met Cumbria at Sharlston last Sunday.

Crosswell scored a first half try as Yorkshire led 10-4 at half-time before taking control after the break.

Yorkshire dominated, running in tries at regular intervals to complete a 42-8 victory.

Dewsbury Moor Under-8s finished their season with a thumping seven tries-to-one victory over Thornhill Trojans.

Moor tackled hard to contain and frustrate Thornhill.

Sam Beety was opposition MoM as he scored five tries and made 29 tackles.

Masin Denvers was coaches MoM with 22 tackles, while Carson Pickard collected man of steel following his best display of the season.

Lucas Sheard won magic moment for an outstanding cover tackle.

Jack Horan was top tackler for his outstanding effort as Moor brought the curtain down on a good all round season.
