Dewsbury’s helping hand after windfall

Jonathan France, director of the company, had agreed to boost the Rams’ coffers if they reached the target, which they achieved before the deadline of kick-off at last Sunday’s opening game against Halifax.

Rams chairman Mark Sawyer has been delighted with the response from fans in the last few weeks, adding: “It is a great boost to have this money coming in, as we hadn’t budgeted for it.

“Other than Widnes, in recent seasons our season ticket sales have matched almost everybody in this division. Some clubs in the Championship have virtually no season ticket holders, so it is terrific that we have sold over 500.

“We expect one or two more to trickle in before the league campaign begins and could still reach last year’s sales of 570.”

Dewsbury had 530 season ticket holders this week, although two of those are donated on an annual basis to the Hollybank Trust in Mirfield.

The Rams announced that Hollybank hold ticket numbers 499 and 500 and they sent representatives to have a look round Tetley’s Stadium and help celebrate the cash boost for the club,

Dayne Sawyer, fundraising development officer at Hollybank, said: “We are grateful for the season tickets as it really can make a difference.

“We try to share the tickets out to enable people to have different experiences and we are always well received whenever we take people up to the club.”
