Simon Church, who had a seven-game loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season, scored the only goal as Charlton reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Terriers created enough chances to win the cup tie, Oliver Norwood, Danny Ward, Sean Scannell and Duane Holmes all going close but Church’s 55th minute strike was enough to put the Addicks through to the next round.

Town boss Mark Robins said: “We are out of the competition because it was an error-strewn game and we did not take our chances.”
