Gary Sykes and Jon Kays weigh in for title fight on huge Amir Khan bill

Dewsbury’s Gary Sykes has weighed in ahead of his English super featherweight title defence against Ashton’s Jonny Kays in Sheffield on Saturday night.

Sykes tipped the scales at 9st 3lb 2oz, well inside the 9st 4lb super featherweight limit, while opponent Kays weighed in at 9st 2lb 13 oz.

Sykes looked in tip top condition as he rubbed shoulders with some of the most well known boxers in Britain.

Amir Khan will top tomorrow’s bill at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield when he meets Mexico’s Julio Diaz.

Khan weighed in at 10st 2lb 2oz, with Diaz 10st 2lb 3oz in what should be a cracking fight.

It was a strange sight to see giant heavyweights Audley Harrison (16st 12lb 7oz) and unbeaten American Deontay Wilder (16st 8oz) weigh in immediately before the slightly built Sykes and Kays.

Further pictures from today’s weigh in, held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, are available by following @reporterAndy1 on Twitter, with live updates continuing tomorrow.

The bill is being screened live on BoxNation and Sykes is due in the ring at 7.09pm.
