LIVERSEDGE Under-11s have completed a remarkable season which has seen them win four trophies in two different leagues.
The youngsters, coached by Simon Horkin, won the Under-11 Bradford League and then retained the Bradford League Cup by beating Keighley by eight wickets in the final.
Keighley made 74-7 in the 30 over final, as Rajan Dhangar claimed 3-5, before Rishi Bhuskute helped guide them to victory by making 39 not out.
Liversedge had already won the Heavy Woollen District JCL’s Peter Myers Cup, when they completed their four-trophy haul with the Dorothy Smith Championship last Sunday.
Liversedge progressed to the league finals day at Wrenthorpe where they beat Hunslet Nelson by 21 runs in the second semi-final.
William Horkin hit 15 not out in Liversedge’s net total of 236, of which A Kennedy claimed 2-6, before Horkin collected 2-10 to restrict Nelson to 215. Methley (276) overcame Birstall (241) by 35 runs in the first semi.
Rishi Bhuskute hit 39 not out in the final, while Horkin (11no) supported as Liversedge reached 247. Methley were then restricted to 197 as Edward Holmes (4-12) and Brandon Silverwood (2-8) impressed.
Bhuskute was named player of the finals and received the Neil Smith Trophy, while Methley collected the Nancy Richards Trophy as runners-up.
n Wrenthorpe Under-15s won the Marsdin Trophy for the first time as they beat hosts Altofts in the final last Sunday.
J Logan (33) led Altofts to 121-8 and in a thrilling finish, Wrenthorpe hit the winning runs off the final ball to seal an eight-wicket success.
Marcus Brookes was awarded the player of the finals day after top scoring with 36 retired. Earlier, Wrenthorpe dismissed Scholes for just 23 in their semi-final as they won by 10 wickets, while Altofts had a 30-run victory over Wakefield Thornes.
n West Bretton A won the Gordon Cooper Under-13 Cup for the first time at Hartshead Moor on Monday. West Bretton A defeated West Bretton B in the first semi-final before Liversedge suffered a 43-run defeat to Wakefield St Michaels.
S Trevitt (26 ret) and Bhuskute (25ret) helped Liversedge make 92-6 in reply to St Michaels’ 135-5.
West Bretton A dismissed St Michaels for 69 in the final and completed an eight-wicket win. Sam Thomas (26 ret) was awarded the player of the finals trophy.
