Dewsbury Moor Under-18s secured the derby bragging rights after overcoming Shaw Cross Sharks 32-6 in the Yorkshire Youth League.
Moor were aware of the Sharks recent form, which had seen them reach the Yorkshire Cup semi-final and defeat highly rated King Cross Park in recent weeks.
The Sharks started brightly but as they looked to pass the ball out wide, Jordan Foster intercepted and raced 35 yards to the line.
Further Moor pressure saw John Joe Fox, Tobias Richardson, Brad Foster and Jamie Samme make ground before stand-off Tom Kaye stepped through to score. Jacob Flathers converted.
The Sharks battled well with James Winstanley, Jake Townsend and Jack Gledhill running strongly, with half-backs Jordan Ward and Chad Moss attempting to create openings.
Only a good tackle by Moor centre Joe Sheard prevented the Sharks from scoring.
Moor counter attacked and good play by Connor Vickers, Luke Sheridan and Sam Pickles led to Samme and Kaye adding further first half tries, which Flethers converted as the visitors led 22-0.
Louis Greenwood and Keiran Hepworth drove the ball in strongly at the start of the second half, while captain Cameron Bruce also tested the Sharks defence.
Sharks MoM Aiden Harding produced some good breaks at the other end, while Sam Ottewell’s elusive runs also provided a threat for the home side.
A neat offload by Kaye sent Richardson over and soon after scorer turned provider when Richardson’s pass put Moor MoM Brad Foster between the posts and Flathers converted to make it 32-0.
Foster chased back to produce a terrific try saving tackle but late on the Sharks scored a deserved consolation try when Ward’s kick through was pounced on by Dale Smith and Jay Webster landed a terrific touchline conversion.
Other good Sharks displays came from Will Poching, Jamie Searby, Brandan French, Harry Webster and Ben Spaven.
