Moorlands prepared for top of table clash

Moorlands warmed up for Saturday's top of the table clash against Rastrick with a 101-run victory over Slaithwaite last week.

Moorlands beat the showers to claim victory which sees them into second place in the Drakes Huddersfield League Championship, three points behind Rastrick.

Michael Rounding (25) and George Payne (23) were the leading scorers as Moorlands were bowled out for 155, with Daniel Rushworth (5-32) and Alex Walker (4-38) doing the damage.

Rushworth top scored with 29 in reply but seven Slaithwaite batsmen failed to trouble the scorers as they were bowled out for 54 in 16.5 overs.

Naveed Zamurad (6-26) led the way for Moorlands, while Darrell Sykes and Andrew Walker picked up two wickets apiece.

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers are four points clear of Almondbury Wesleyans at the top of the Conference following victory over bottom side Emley Clarence.

Daniel Hope struck 52, batting at number eight, as Parish were bowled out for 144 in 32 overs.

That target was later reduced to 123 after rain intervened but Emley could only manage 95-5 from 28 overs in reply as Parish secured victory with Padgett following up his efforts with the bat by taking 4-43.

Mirfield remain second-bottom, eight points above Emley, after their game against Hall Bower was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
