Quarry hold nerve to reach last four

The sides were locked 1-1 at half-time and couldn’t be separated after extra time as the tie ended 2-2.

The penalty shoot-out was also tight before Quarry edged through 5-4.

Mohammed Shoaib and Luke Newsome were on target for Quarry, while goals from James Wightman and Matt Waite ensured Oakwell took the tie to spot kicks.

It was not a good day for Oakwell as their Reserve side also bowed out of the trophy at the quarter-final stage, losing 2-0 to BD3 United, who reached the last four thanks to a goal apiece from Talat Mahmood and Intikhab Alam.

Mohammed Ismael, Junid Taj and Waleed Arshad were on target as TVR United defeated Bradford (Kyle Hynes) 3-1.

Park also bowed out after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Fairbank in a game brilliantly refereed by Andy Walker.

Park were awarded an early penalty but it was saved and although Danny Moffatt’s goal helped the home side go into half-time level at 1-1, Fairbank scored three second half goals without reply to reach the semis.

Imran Khan (two), Faisal Shabbir and Bilal Saleem were the Fairbank scorers.

TVR meet Fairbank United in the first semi-final on Monday April 25, with Quarry’s reward for last week’s thrilling win a clash against BD3 United on Wednesday April 27.

Both semi-finals, along with the final, which takes place on Thursday May 12, take place at Liversedge FC’s Clayborn ground and kick off at 7pm.

Youth 2000 scored a last minute goal to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Ravensthorpe Rangers in the only Spen Valley League Premier Division game to take place last Saturday.

Jerry and Atif scored either side of half-time for Ravensthorpe, while M Raja’s goal ensured Youth went into the break level before M Adams struck in the final minute to earn Youth a point.

ALC defeated Norfolk 3-1 in Division One with all the goals coming in the second half.

I Lunat was on target for Norfolk but it wasn’t enough as ALC replied through Andy Morton (two) and David Niblock.

West Bradford Spartans defeated Inter Batley 4-2 after the sides were locked 2-2 at half-time.

Calvin Manyange fired a hat-trick for the Spartans, who also had Ross Barraclough on target, while Inter’s first half goals came from Ramzan Mazher and Suhall Barber.

Four midweek league games also took place last week.

Fairbank overcame ALC 3-0 with goals from Faisal Shabbir (two) and Rizwan Mir.

Daniel Coucil grabbed a brace as Park defeated Inter Batley 2-0.

Dale Fernie’s goal was enough to earn Howden Clough all three points against Stithy.

Bobby Canning bagged a brace as West Bradford Spartans earned a very good win over BD3 United.
