Spaven stated personal and family reasons for requesting a release and Dewsbury agreed, despite having horrendous injury problems ahead of Saturday’s Challenge Cup tie at Sheffield Eagles.

The regular travelling to and from Spaven’s home in Hull hadn’t allowed him to devote the time he needed to his personal life and he may now opt to play for a local amateur club on Humberside.

Spaven played 21 games last season after arriving from Doncaster, scoring four tries and four goals

He appeared in six games this term, including three from the bench, adding a couple of goals to his career tally.

In a Rams statement, the club said they would like to thanks Scott for all his efforts and service to the club and hope that everything works out for him in the future.
