Cougars all-but end Rams’ play-off hopes

DEWSBURY Rams saw their Co-operative Championship play-off hopes all-but come to an end at Keighley Cougars on Sunday.

Warren Jowitt’s men travelled to Cougar Park looking for victory to realistically keep their top-six chances alive against sixth-placed Keighley.

But a heavy 34-6 defeat against Jason Demetriou’s men left Rams eight points adrift of Cougars in seventh with just three games to go in the regular season.

James Craven had given the visitors the perfect start with a try after just four minutes, converted by Pat Walker.

But Craig Moss replied for the hosts and further tries from Brendan Rawlins and Richie Barnett saw Keighley 14-6 up at half-time.

Danny Lawton added two more tries for the hosts in the second half and Demetriou also go in on the act to make it an afternoon to forget for Dewsbury.
