No Owlerton trip for Rams or Bulldogs

Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams will not face a trip to Owlerton Stadium next season after Sheffield Eagles confirmed they will not be playing at the dog track in 2015.

Sheffield moved to Owlerton last season following the demolition of Don Valley Stadium but a number of clubs voiced concerns at the temporary facility.

New Rugby Football League ground regulations mean the stadium no longer meets requirements to stage games.

Several away clubs complained about the changing rooms at the stadium and a number of teams made alternative arrangements to get changed before and after the game.

New RFL regulations have been brought in because four clubs from the Championship will play in a league against Super League opposition in the end of season Super 8 competition.

Grounds now need to be capable of accommodating evening fixtures for Sky TV and there is also a requirement for a minimum of 1,500 permanent seats.

An announcement about where Sheffield Eagles will be playing in 2015 will be made once negotiations are concluded and approved by the RFL Board of Directors.
