Holders Birkenshaw reached the Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup Final with a 5-0 victory over Battyeford in a one-sided semi-final at Overthorpe.

Goals from Jonjo Haley (two), Michael Smith, Joel Farrar and Paul Smith saw Birkenshaw into the final, where they meet Towngate at Ossett Albion May 9, kick off 7.30pm.

Thornhill Lees took a huge step toward the Premier Division title after beating nearest rivals St John Fisher 6-3.

Scott Hargreaves hit a hat-trick, with Lee Brook, James Wilson and Nathan Kemp also netting for Lees. Fisher replied through Rob Bordman (brace) and Niall Kelly.

Lees lead the table by seven points, but Fisher crucially have three games in hand.

In the Championship Dewsbury Rangers claimed the title with a 4-1 win over Gomersal, while second placed Overthorpe Sports Club hammered bottom side Scholes Athletic 13-2.

n Having clinched the Wakefield League Division One title thanks to a 9-4 win over Inns of Court last Saturday, unbeaten Gawthorpe reached the League Cup final on Saturday thanks to a 4-1 win at Wortley Reserves.

Gawthorpe meet Prince of Wales in the final at Crofton Community Centre on April 19 (7.30pm), while they were due to meet Wyke Wanderers in the Heavy Woollen Wheatley Cup final on Wednesday.

Gawthorpe are chasing four trophies this season and they meet Gate in the Jim Callaghan Cup quarter-final on Saturday at Bywell Fields (2.30pm).

n Soothill’s hopes of winning the Spen Valley League Division One title suffered a set back last week when they lost 8-4 at Ravensthorpe Bulls.

Dominic Simpson bagged a hat-trick, there was a brace each for Alb Nichols and Steve Hadden, while Paul Beaumont also struck as the fourth placed Bulls moved to within seven points of the leaders with three games in hand.

Savile United are third, six points behind Soothill, following a 5-2 win at Heckmondwike Sports as Faizal Adam and Abu Mulla bagged two goals each, while Zaigham Sajid also struck.
