Sykes granted shot at Cardle for British lightweight title
A statement released by the Board this afternoon said: “The (BBBoC) Stewards decided to approve a request from Promoter Eddie Hearn for the (British lightweight title) voluntary defence contest to take place on a date and venue as yet to be confirmed.”
Sykes is a two-time British super featherweight champion and is now set to get a crack at becoming a two-weight British champion.

Hide AdThe 31-year-old defeated tough journeyman Ibrar Riyaz at the Liverpool Olympia last month on his official lightweight debut, a victory which The Reporter revealed would earn him a crack at Cardle.
Sykes’ record stands at 28 wins and four defeats from 32 bouts, while 25-year-old Cardle has won all 18 bouts of his professional career, including five inside the distance.
The Lancashire man overcame Craig Evans by unanimous points decision to win the British title in May and looks set to make his first defence against Sykes.
