Thornhill Trojans and Batley Boys in pre-season

Thornhill Trojans will travel to New Earswick All Blacks for their opening pre-season fixture on Saturday August 2 (ko 2.30pm).

The club are running a coach to the game and will stop in York after before returning to Thornhill around 10pm.

Thornhill’s Jim Brown Heavy Woollen Cup semi-final at Dewsbury Moor is scheduled for Wednesday August 6.

The Trojans A team are through to the John Kane Cup semi-final and travel to Dewsbury Celtic A on Wednesday August 13.

Kick off times for both midweek cup ties are to be confirmed.

Richard Turner stepped down from the Trojans committee at their annual meeting, with Rachel Hodgson officially taking over as Thornhill’s youth section secretary,

Batley Boys open age team have resumed pre-season training ahead of their Pennine League winter campaign.

Training will take place each Tuesday and Thursday (from 7.30pm) at the Halifax Road rugby pitch, next to Staincliffe WMC.

Terry Bairstow will coach the Boys this season and queries about joining the side, who will play in Pennine Championship One can be made on 07891 520950.
