Trojans bow out of BARLA National Cup

Thornhill bowed out of the BARLA National Cup last Saturday, losing 16-10 in a controversial game at Wibsey which saw Trojans coach James Ratcliffe sent out of the ground.

Trojans MoM Jake Wilson broke the deadlock when he picked up a charged down kick sprinted 80 metres for a try which he converted but Wibsey hit back to level soon after.

Wilson again showed his class to score Thornhill’s second try as they led 10-6 at half-time.

With Jordan Lowther lying injured on the ground Trojans coach Ratcliffe made his feelings known to referee Steve Presley and was sent off.

Thornhill conceded several penalties and Anthony Broadhead was sin-binned for dissent before Harry Hall barged over for a try and Simon Sewell converted to edge Wibsey ahead.

Thornhill opted to run a couple of penalties instead of going for goal, while Ryan Fenton raced clear but was pulled back for a forward pass .

Nick Fontaine scored the match clinching try near the end and a Trojans spectator was also asked to leave the ground for protesting the decision.
