Battyeford Primary School pupils help to break a world record

PUPILS at Battyeford Primary School have played their part in breaking a Guiness World Record by producing portraits of themselves.

The children joined 201,948 young people across the UK in creating self-portraits as part of the Face Britain project. The children and teenagers who took part successfully broke the world record for most artists working on the same art installation as well as being involved in the largest art project in the UK.

Teacher Natalie Deane said “It’s been wonderful to be involved in the UK’s largest ever art project and great to know that the portraits will become part of history.”

Images of the portraits will be displayed around the country on advertising screens until the end of 2012, and the portraits themselves will eventually be handed to The British Library to be stored for viewing.
